Beasts Of Bourbon
- Little
Animals
The Beasts unleash
their ferocity with the release of Little Animals - April 21.
Some records should
not be taken lightly. This one is the real deal, an unexpected gift
from the gods. The brand new Beasts of Bourbon album is one of those
classic albums, recorded and mixed in three days. It's their first
album of new songs in nine years and it will kick your arse.
LITTLE ANIMALS,
the long awaited album from Australian rock music legends Beasts
of Bourbon arrives against considerable odds. Last time Tex Perkins,
Spencer Jones, Charlie Owen, Brian Hooper and Tony Pola made a record,
its title turned out to be succinctly prophetic. At the end of '97,
GONE saw them off on the longest hiatus of the Beasts' 23-year tenure,
for reasons best unasked or forgotten.
Over six albums
of excoriating, low life rock 'n' roll, the Beasts of Bourbon had
carved their name large and indelibly in Australian rock lore. In
(evil) spirit they're kin to AC/DC, the Stones and the Birthday
Party; in real life their lineage encompasses the Johnnys, the Surrealists,
the Cruel Sea, the New Christs, Tex, Don and Charlie and too many
crash and burn blues / punk rock outfits that fell foul of the old
death or glory equation some time over the last quarter-century.
Their first single,
I Dont Care About Nothing Anymore, demonstrates the vigorously
unpredictable and explosive atmosphere that we have all been missing.
And there are nine other tracks that give us all every good reason
to get excited about the new edition to their sentient repertoire.
And as for Texs
famous disclaimer about the Beasts' ongoing volatility: It's
a fairly destructive entity and I would think very carefully about
unleashing it on the world again
"F---k the
world," he says. "It's us I'm worried about."
The Beasts of Bourbon
will be touring in June with tour dates to be announced soon.
